Learn Swahili in Tanzania
Participating on a Swahili Language Course in Tanzania with Projects Abroad is a great way to experience and learn about a unique culture. This language course is intensive and lasts from two weeks upwards.
Swahili is a Bantu language spoken in Tanzania, as well as Kenya. The Swahili language has been influenced by Arabic and more recently also by English. One of Swahili’s attributes is that its pronunciation is straightforward compared to some other languages.
If you choose to travel abroad on the Swahili Language Course, you will have one-on-one lessons with a qualified language teacher for 15 hours per week. These lessons will be tailored to your level and personal interests. With accommodation in the home of a local family, you will learn quickly and can practice what you’ve learnt with your hosts each day.
If you want to develop your Swahili language skills further, you can join a Care or Teaching project. We also have a variety of other volunteer options available in Tanzania.
Alternatively, you can undertake a shorter 14-hour or 30-hour language course in Swahili that runs alongside your volunteer project. If you are planning on volunteering abroad for twelve weeks or more, you could also complete a 60-hour course alongside your project. These prices are in addition to your main project price.
